The Barbour story takes us all the way back too 1894, up in the North East in the costal town of South Shields. Now in to a fifth generation of family ownership, the companies head office still resides in in the town and, although components are sourced from all corners of the globe, still hand make 100,000 jackets a year.
It wasn’t until the early 2000’s that Barbour began to work with Lord James Percy on their flagship shooting range – the Northumberland Range. The highly acclaimed line won awards from within the shooting industry, and was the beginning of a healthy partnership between the pair, picking up numerous other awards on the way.
Barbour has expanded and grown and now holds 10 of its own retail stores as well as having a presence in over 40 countries worldwide, stocking over 5,000 products. Catering for Men, Ladies and Children, the company has broadened its scope from strictly country wear and now produce a full lifestyle wardrobe, branching from jackets and coats too all kind of clothing and accessories.
Through the companies impressive journey and rise to a leading designer country wear manufacturer the core values of the family business are true to this day.
